A refresh for women making art
New ventures and IRL spaces make room for change at Women Making Art — a living archive of exhibitions by women artists.
Women Making Art was founded on a simple mission: that the work of women artists should be recognised, seen, documented, and remembered. As a living archive of exhibitions, Women Making Art visits shows, converses with artists, and writes about the work they produce - bridging the gap between the fleeting experience of a gallery visit and the longer arc of cultural memory.
In 2025, WMA asked LULACREATES to refresh the overarching Women Making Art brand while developing extensions that make room for its soon-to-launch physical space, featuring a reading room and collection - a significant new chapter for the organisation.
The design challenge was to develop a brand identity for an arts organisation that communicates everything WMA stands for: the intimacy of the archive, the warmth of a community, and the ambition of an organisation dedicated to amplifying women's presence and contribution within the art world. By honouring the brand's journey so far whilst creating space for something new, we crafted a refreshed identity that can take the organisation into its next evolution - whilst WMA continues the vital work of amplifying and celebrating women in the world of art.
